Mighty Neptune has created many ghosts of the iron and wood
variety, as the previous post indicated.
While contemplating the accounts of the survivors of the
sinking of the Titanic, I couldn't even imagine what they went through watching
that mighty ship dip into the ocean, the creaks and groans like the rattling of
chains, until the weight of the bow pulls it upright.
Cameron's movie came about as close as anything I've seen.
Still, in this day and age it's possible to see for
ourselves a glimmer of the awesome Neptune swallowing a ship whole.
The following is a YouTube link showing the sinking of the
MTS Oceanos. The clip is only 2:33, and
shows Mighty Neptune caressing the ship to the bottom. And I link to it because ever one survived,
though it might not have ended that way.
The following is a longer version that relates the cowardice
of the Captain and the heroism of a couple of entertainers. If you watch this one, prepare to be both
uplifted and outraged.
It is horrifying and chilling to watch those unforgiving waters close over something man made and set afloat. And who would have expected a sinking to be so noisy.
